For those who are unfamiliar, GISH (formerly known as GISHWHES) stands for the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt — a week-long, jam-packed event that mobilizes the forces of weird for good. Created by Misha Collins (Supernatural), GISH features all kinds of wacky activities that allow you to unleash your creativity through fun and crazy challenges , like recreating famous paintings out of pancakes, all while helping the global community. In the past, the proceeds raised have gone towards charitable causes such as providing economic freedom for Rwandan women, rescuing refugees in Lebanon and Syria, and most recently, protecting at-risk generations of Laotian children by defusing unexploded ordinances left from both the Vietnam and Cold War and providing prosthetics for the individuals injured by said ordinances.
This year’s installment of the annual scavenger hunt boasts a “summer camp” theme and will be filled with virtual events and “survival training” workshops (ominous), with some special surprise celebrity guests in addition to the usual checklist of zany activities to complete.
The Grand Prize for the team that racks up the most points will be… a surprise (knowing Misha, you should be terrified). What we can tell you that the “mystery package” will include a dinner with Misha Collins himself (virtual or in-person depending on the state of the pandemic when the time comes), an amazing adventure or prize, exclusive GISH Schwag, and a donation to the winning team’s favorite charity.
The 2020 Hunt will take place from August 1 to August 8. In addition to this year’s charitable focus (which is also a secret yet to be revealed, but has been promised to make quite an impact), every registration will provide 15 meals for children in need. From the mini hunts earlier in the year, 515,000 meals have already been covered for kids whose food security has been impacted by Coronavirus. Tickets are $25.01 per player.
