‘Legally Blonde 3’ in the Works at MGM with Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor

Legally Blonde, fans — I hope you’re ready to “bend and snap” again. Deadline has reported that Legally Blonde 3 is in development at MGM! Mindy Kaling (creator of The Mindy Project and Netflix’s Never Have I Ever) and Dan Goor (creator of Brooklyn Nine-Nine) have officially signed on to pen the script for the next adventure with Elle Woods.

So far, Reese Witherspoon is confirmed to reprise her role as Elle Woods. Currently there are no further details on the story, but Deadline has assured that Kaling and Goor’s script will take an entirely new spin on the familiar story. Witherspoon will serve as a producer, along with original Legally Blonde producer Marc Platt, Lauren Neustadter, and Adam Siegel.

Legally Blonde follows Elle Woods, a college student and sorority girl who decides to apply to Harvard Law School after her boyfriend dumps her in an effort to win him back. However, she soon realizes she doesn’t need him and learns how to make her own path, finding her niche as an attorney. Legally Blonde 2 saw Elle take on a bigger case in Washington D.C., as she works with a Representative on a bill to ban animal testing.
