Great news, Pokémon and graphic novel fans! If you’ve been looking for your next fun graphic novel, you are in luck! On March 27, 2020 Legendary Comics announced the release for the highly anticipated POKÉMON Detective Pikachu graphic novel! Collaborating with The Pokémon Company International, it’s available for online purchase and anywhere else you buy comics.
Fans can read the adventures of Detective Pikachu, along with his partner Tim Goodman, based off the popular film starring Ryan Reynolds from last summer. Follow Tim Goodman (played by Justice Smith in the film) as he travels through Ryme City looking for his father who has gone missing, with a Pikachu as a surprise partner. They try to find Goodman’s father while dealing with twists and turns and dangers everywhere they go.
Robert Napton, who is Senior Vice President of Legendary Comics had this to say:
“Brian’s writing and Nelson’s art have really captured a depth to the world in which Detective Pikachu and his fellow Pokémon live. We are so excited to expand upon this story, as well as the characters of POKÉMON Detective Pikachu.”
The POKÉMON Detective Pikachu graphic novel is illustrated by talented artist Nelson Daniel, with inspiration from the film while making it his own. The newest graphic novel is written by New York Times bestselling author Brian Buccellato, who is well known for his work for The Flash and DC Comics.
