Join ‘The Nanny’ Cast for a Virtual Table Reading

After hinting at something exciting last week, Fran Drescher announced on her Instagram that she and the other actors of The Nanny will be releasing a table read of the pilot episode, in which Drescher stars as the titular character.

The reading will be recorded by Zoom and uploaded to the  Sony Pictures YouTube channel next Monday, April 6. This is welcome news to fans of the sitcom, which originally aired for six seasons in 1993. The show follows the life of Fran Fine, who suddenly finds herself becoming a nanny to three children of a widowed father after being unceremoniously dumped by her boyfriend and losing her job as a cosmetic saleswoman. With the exception of James Marsden, the entire original cast will be joining in for the special “Pandemic Performance” reading, which is sure to bring some much needed laughter into our lives.

If this leaves you wanting more hilarious content, Drescher is also developing a Broadway musical adaptation for The Nanny along with co-creator Peter Marc Jacobson. Rachel Bloom is writing the music for the show and was working on it with the late Adam Schlesinger, bringing their award winning talents to the production. While there is no set timeline, The Nanny: A New Musical is sure to be packed with just as much entertainment as the original sitcom.

In the meantime, US fans can watch The Nanny on The Roku Channel, Cozi TV, and Logo TV. Fans abroad can find the show on Amazon Prime (New Zealand, Australia, and Canada), Disney Channel (Germany), Paramount Network (Italy), TFX (France), VTM Go (Belgium), Ziggo (Netherlands), Astro (Southeast Asia), and StarHub (Singapore).
