‘Betty’ to premiere on HBO May 1

The new HBO show Betty, based on the film Skate Kitchen, will premiere on May 1.

Rachelle Vinberg, Nina Moran, Moonbear, Dede Lovelace, and Ajani Russell will all reprise their roles from the film. They are all members of a real New York skateboarding group called Skate Kitchen.

Skate Kitchen’s director, Crystal Moselle, is also writing and directing Betty. The series will be composed of six episodes and will follow women in the world of skateboarding:

A diverse group of young women navigate their lives through the male-dominated world of skateboarding in New York City.
