WATCH: SAG-AFTRA’s The Business: Q&A with Rian Johnson of ‘Knives Out’
Knives Out was one of the biggest sensations of the year. Bringing in almost $300 million worldwide, it was a win for original content in Hollywood. Starring a stunning ensemble cast featuring Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Michael Shannon, and Christopher Plummer, it was a “whodunnit” that did it, and did it well.
SAG-AFTRA sat down with the writer/director Rian Johnson to talk about the film, how it blossomed from a basic structural idea 10 years ago to the labyrinthine hybrid of mystery and Hitchcock thriller final story, how he gave each character their moment in the limited time space, and the technicalities of filming from a certain character’s perspective. He also talks working with these high caliber actors and how fun it was to watch them let loose while keeping the characters eccentric yet believable, stepping into the role as executive producer for the first time and forming his new producing company. Plus, what are his plans and intentions for the continuation of Benoit Blanc? Could we get a sequel?

Knives Out will be available for digital purchase on Friday, February 7 and Blu-ray/DVD February 25.
