Studio Ghibli Announces Two New Films

Share

In their annual New Year’s message, Studio Ghibli announced it is working on two new films in 2020.  The first project is director Hayao Miyazaki’s Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka (How Do You Live?). There is also a second unnamed film in the works. There are no confirmed release dates for the new films and these are likely to be released between 2021 and 2022.

Recently, HBO Max picked up the US streaming rights to the complete collection of Studio Ghibli films. Starting spring 2020, fans of the film company’s animated films – Howl’s Moving Castle, Kiki’s Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and many others – will be thrilled to see some of their favorite movies available for the first time in one place.

So while waiting for Studio Ghibli’s future new releases, tune in to HBO Max to get reacquainted and discover some beloved films from Japan’s most influential and award-winning film studio.
