Earlier this year, Epcot’s Character Spot was closed in September to allow for Future World’s construction, and the big mouse himself was moved to the Innoventions West location for meet and greets near Big Hero Six’s Baymax and Inside Out’s Joy and Sadness. But as of this morning, we’ve learned that Mickey Mouse will be moved next year to Epcot’s all-new Imagination! pavilion.
According to the Disney Parks Blog:
“Mickey will soon be making appearances in a new location at the Imagination! pavilion, as part of the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival. Just inside the entrance, you’ll discover Mickey greeting his fans and celebrating his on-screen stardom.”
The Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival is an 18-minute “festival,” inviting guests to take a load off and enjoy three Disney and Pixar short films in 4-D. Based on the announcement, we can assume one of the films will actually feature Mickey Mouse himself.
Mickey’s move to the Imagination! pavilion is another result of the major D23 announcements made earlier this year, which will see Epcot completely reimagined with new attractions, dining experiences, and entertainment.
