The trailer for Honey Boy, the semi-autobiographical movie written by Shia LaBeouf (Transformers) and directed by Alma Har’el (LoveTrue) that focuses on the problematic relationship between a boy and his father, has been released.

The movie follows Otis (played by Noah Jupe and later Lucas Hedges) going through the different stages of his acting career, including his eventual fall into addiction, rehab and recovery. LaBeouf plays James, Otis’ father – an ex-rodeo clown and alcoholic felon.

The trailer begins in 2005 with Otis crashing his car while intoxicated and ending up in the back of a squad car. It then flashes back to Otis as a young boy speaking with his father.  The movie also features FKA Twigs, Maika Monroe, Natasha Lyonne, Byron Bowers, Martin Starr, and more.
