Netflix’s Adaptation of ‘The Prom’ To Include Meryl Streep, James Corden, and More!

Six of the key roles in the upcoming Fall 2020 Netflix adaptation of The Prom have been cast! Meryl Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman, and Andrew Rannells will be playing the four Broadway veterans, (Dee Dee Allen, Barry Glickman, Angie Dickinson, and Trent Oliver respectively) who head to Indiana to make a difference, as well as save their careers. Awkwafina will be playing the gender-bent version of their publicist, Ms. Sheldon and Keegan-Michael Key has been cast to play the Indiana school’s principal and Dee Dee’s love interest, Mr. Hawkins. According to Deadline, these cast members were all first choices!

The crew is still searching for someone to play Emma Nolan and the role of Alyssa Greene is open again as well! Though it will be hard to top Caitlin Kinnunen and Isabelle McCalla’s portrayals, our unruly hearts at Nerds and Beyond are excited to see who they cast as Emma and Alyssa for this Netflix adaptation!

In other exciting news, Ryan Murphy is set to direct this film adaptation of The Prom in December 2019 and not only will we get to stream it on Netflix but it will also be released in theaters beforehand!
