A script page from the new series The L Word: Generation Q shows a little information about two new characters.

The series takes place ten years after the original ended and will see the return of characters Bette (Jennifer Beals), Alice (Leisha Hailey), and Shane (Katherine Moennig). It will air on Showtime channel in the fall.

The two new character names are Micah and Dani; it is not yet known who will be playing them on the show. They are best friends and also exes. Micah is transgender and 30 years old and works as a climate scientist. Dani is a cisgender lesbian, also 30 years old, who is a successful public relations executive.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner and writer Marja-Lewis Ryan said the following about the news:

Getting the chance to write where their lives would be in 10 years, there’s this element of fan fiction that I got to fulfill — and the other writers in the room did, too… Not to get super dark, but any time I see a news story about a kid like you or me who kills themselves, the idea that this show is not on the air is, I think, harmful… I just think about the little Marjas, watching themselves, seeing themselves, and being okay.

The L Word: Generation Q will premiere in the fall on Showtime.
