Fans of The L Word rejoice, Showtime has given the go-ahead to a sequel of the iconic show. The idea of bringing the show back has been in development for more than a year.
Not only will original cast members Jennifer Beals (Bette Porter), Katherine Moennig (Shane McCutcheon), and Leisha Hailey (Alice Pieszecki) be executive producers, they will also reprise their characters. It is currently unknown if any other characters will return. The show will begin filming this summer, and the eight-episode season will air later this year.
The L Word followed a group of lesbians (ages ranging 20s and 30s) living in West Hollywood, along with their families and girlfriends. It ran from 2004-2009, and was hailed as the first drama series to focus on lesbian characters open about their sexuality.
