Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse, Sony Pictures Animation’s latest installment in the Spider-Man universe, released their first official full-length trailer today.

Featuring a voice cast including Shameik Moore, Liev Schreiber, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Lily Tomlin and Jake Johnson, the computer-animated film centers around Brooklyn teen Miles Morales (Moore), who took up the mantle of Spider-Man in 2011 following the death of Peter Parker in Marvel’s Ultimate comics series.

The film is directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, from a screenplay by Phil Lord, half of the team behind The Lego Movie. According to the film’s Wikipedia page, Lord and his creative partner Christopher Miller wanted the film to have its own unique style, combining the in-house computer animation of Sony Pictures Animation with traditional hand-drawn comic book techniques inspired by the work of Miles Morales’ co-creator Sara Pichelli.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is scheduled for release on December 14, just in time for the Christmas holidays.
