Star Wars day has brought with it a plentiful bounty of cheerful galactic news, ranging from exciting online merchandise releases to the premiere of the Disney+ docuseries Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian.

However, the excitement doesn’t stop there, because Lucasfilm has just made some official announcements about two upcoming projects!

The one and only Taika Waititi, best known for his work on Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok, and The Mandalorian, will be directing and co-writing a new, upcoming Star Wars feature film for theatrical release. Co-writing the screenplay for this movie alongside Waititi will be Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho).

Another new, untitled Star Wars series is also in production for Disney+, and Leslye Headland (Russian Doll, Bachelorette) has been announced as the showrunner. Headland will write and executive produce the show as well.

Release dates for these new projects have not yet been confirmed.
