In a world where only witches can cast magic, they must avoid being seen by ordinary people while casting. While Coco does her chores, she daydreams of becoming a witch. When a young witch named Qifrey visits her village, Coco uncovers the “absolute secret,” becomes Qifrey’s apprentice, and begins her studies. This is the story of children who encounter despair, yet reach out toward hope.
Witch Hat Atelier is adapted from Kamome Shirahama’s award-winning manga, which began serialization by Kodansha in 2016. It has sold over seven million copies worldwide and been awarded the Eisner Award and Harvey Award.
The anime adaptation is produced by BUG FILMS and is directed by Ayumu Watanabe, with music composed by Yuka Kitamura.
Shun Shinohara serves as Assistant Director; Hiroshi Seko is writing the series composition; Kairi Unabara heads character design and also acts as Chief Animation Director; Ryota Goto serves as Art Director with Naomi Nakano undertaking color design; and Tadashi Kitaoka serves as Director of Photography.
Crunchyroll produces the English dub. Emily Fajardo serves as the ADR voice director with Zach Bolton as ADR Producer, Jeremy Woods as the ADR Sound Engineer, Nathanael Harrison as the Mix Engineer, and Ben Phillips as the English Script Writer for the anime adaptation.
