Everybody’s favorite vampire roommates’ quest for world domination is coming to an end. FX’s hit comedy series What We Do in the Shadows will end after its upcoming sixth season. Vulture first reported the news.
Debuting in 2019 on FX, What We Do in the Shadows is based on the mockumentary movie What We Do in the Shadows (2014) starring Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, with Waititi and Clement serving as executive producers on the series and appearing as guest stars. The FX original series gives a comedic look into the nightly lives of four vampires who have lived together for 100 years. Now, the group lives in Staten Island with hopes of taking over the United States while adjusting to modern life.
The popular comedy series has received numerous Emmy nominations over its five seasons, including a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2020 and 2022. Although this news may be disappointing for fans of the show, it has gained a devoted following, and it’s noted there is potential for spin-offs in the future.
