The year is 2023, and the love for Edgar Wright’s film adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic novel series, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, is still going strong. Ahead of the release of the upcoming animated series, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, a new clip debuted during Netflix’s DROP 01 event.

For those not familiar with the story of Scott Pilgrim, it goes a bit like this: a guy meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but unfortunately learns that he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. Then, naturally, things get even more complicated. Of course.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off sees the return of the original cast from the cult favorite film, including Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Satya Bhabha, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson, and more. The show, which is animated by Science SARU and directed by Abel Gongora, will consist of eight episodes. Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski serve as executive producers, writers, and co-showrunners. Additional executive producers include Marc Platt (Marc Platt Productions), Jared LeBoff (Marc Platt Productions), Adam Siegel (Marc Platt Productions);  Michael Bacall; Edgar Wright (Complete Fiction), Nira Park (Complete Fiction), and Eunyoung Choi (Science SARU).

The show features original songs by Anamanaguchi and a score by Anamanaguchi and Joseph Trapanese.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is set to premiere on Netflix on November 17.
