Amongst the 60 announced film premieres for this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is prolific director Richard Linklater’s Hit Man, which reunites the director with actor Glen Powell.

Based on an article written for Texas Monthly by award-winning journalist Skip Hollandsworth, Hit Man follows a cop (Powell) who goes undercover as a hitman in Houston. Everything is going smoothly until Powell’s character encounters a woman (Adria Arjona) trying to flee an abusive relationship, forcing him to walk a line between doing his job to the book and becoming like the criminals he’s spent his life trying to stop.

In addition to starring in Hit Man, Powell also co-wrote the project alongside Linklater.

TIFF 2023 will take place Thursday, September 7, through Sunday, September 17. Stay tuned for updates on Hit Man and the TIFF schedule.
