Earlier this year, Disney debuted a new original series, Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. The series recently concluded its first season in May, and season 2 is already on the way. Recently, Disney announced that Edward James Olmos (Mayans M.C.) is set to guest star in the upcoming season as Molecule Man, one of the main villains for season 2. He will debut in the season’s premiere episode, whose date is TBA.

Molecule Man first appeared in Fantastic Four #20 (November 1963), and later became one of The Beyonder’s primary antagonists. He has the power to manipulate non-living organic matter, fleeing to a new planet to create his own world that would become a hotspot for all types of beings across the multiverse. Though Disney has yet to release many further details on what to expect from season 2, Molecule Man’s arrival may mean The Beyonder (voiced by Laurence Fishburne) will continue to hold some sort of role in the story.

Based on the comics of the same name, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur centers on Lunella Lafayette (Diamond White), a 13-year-old super genius who teams up with a 10-ton T-rex named Devil (Fred Tatasciore) to protect New York City’s Lower East Side from a multitude of bad guys. The regular voice cast also includes Gary Anthony Williams, Sasheer Zamata, Libe Barer, Alfre Woodard, and Jermaine Fowler.

The series is executive produced by Fishburne, Steve Loter, and Helen Sugland’s Cinema Gypsy Productions. Grammy-Award winner Raphael Saddiq serves as executive music producer. Moon Girl‘s season 2 renewal was announced a few months prior to its February release during New York Comic Con 2022.

Season 1 of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is streaming now on Disney+. Check out our NYCC interview with the cast and creative team here.
