Andrew Niccol (The Truman Show) has put together a formidable cast for his upcoming film, I, Object, which will be part live-action, part animated. The lineup is set to include Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets, The Last of Us), Karl Urban (The Boys), Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit), and Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords). This news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

As per THR, I, Object — which is in the pre-production phase at the moment — follows 10-year-old Tom, who’s “grieving the loss of his father and, unable to relate to the people in his life, takes refuge in the everyday objects around him. Pop can lids, suitcases, and untold numbers of everyday objects reveal their true faces and speak to Tom, helping him on his healing journey.”

Written and directed by Niccol, I, Object is produced by Daniel Bekerman for Scythia Films, Chris Yurkovich for Good Question Media, Timothy White for Southern Light Films, and Alex Ordanis. Good Question Media’s Jordan Hart serves as executive producer.
