John Mulaney’s New Standup Special ‘Baby J’ Sets Netflix Premiere

Share

John Mulaney’s next comedy special is headed to Netflix this April, titled John Mulaney: Baby J.

Baby J is the third Netflix standup special for the former Saturday Night Live writer following 2015’s The Comeback Kid and 2018’s Kid Gorgeous. One of his earlier comedy tours, New in Town from 2012, is also available on the streamer, as well as their Emmy-nominated children’s special from 2019 — John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch.

The newest special was recorded in February 2023 at Boston’s Symphony Hall as part of his most recent international tour — John Mulaney: From Scratch — which started its run midway through 2021. Baby J is directed by Alex Timbers and features music from Talking Heads’ David Byrne.

The majority of the special’s material focuses on Mulaney’s drug relapse and subsequent intervention (held by Nick Kroll, Seth Myers, and other familiar names) and rehabilitation, his divorce, and becoming a father.

If you didn’t get to see the tour in person, you can catch John Mulaney: Baby J streaming on Netflix beginning April 25. And if you did see the tour in person, let’s face it … you’ll be tuning in to enjoy the jokes again.
