FAN EXPO HQ announced a partnership with DC and superstar artist Francesco Mattina that will give event attendees throughout 2023 the chance for an exclusive variant cover version of Action Comics #1.
They are celebrating the 85th anniversary of Superman with the issue in which he originally debuted on April 18, 1938. The issue includes the super-rare Signed Edition and the ultra-rare Remarked Edition.
Ultimate and VIP ticket holders at 11 FAN EXPO events will receive one of 12 cover variants in “blind bags” in their swag bags, beginning at FAN EXPO Cleveland (March 24-26, 2023). FAN EXPO HQ is delighted to provide the opportunity for attendees to score these iconic editions as part of an increased commitment to champion the “comic” in “comic con” as the largest comic con producer in the world.
“Each of these variants are collectors’ items and, especially with the rare editions, make our ticket packages exponentially more valuable,” said FAN EXPO HQ Vice President Andrew Moyes. “We’re excited to be working with DC and Francesco Mattina to honor this special anniversary and really show how our comics and creator offerings are leveling up.”
The special blind bags, inspired by the blind bag introduced with DC’s The Death of Superman in 1993, will be included in swag bags for Ultimate and VIP ticketholders and range in rarity:
