In four short weeks, we’ll finally be setting sail for another trip into the Fold. But in the meantime, the trailer for the forthcoming second season of Netflix’s Shadow and Bone has arrived (and every bit as epic as we had hoped).
Check it out below.
While the first season of the show modified the timeline of author Leigh Bardugo’s books by mixing elements of both Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows, the second season will adapt events from Siege and Storm and Ruin and Rising (as confirmed in an interview by Entertainment Weekly). And though we won’t get to see the Crows infiltrate the Ice Court quite yet — that’s apparently being saved for a future season — the Barrel’s finest will continue to be woven into the ongoing story.
The official season 2 synopsis is as follows:
“Alina Starkov is on the run. A beacon of hope to some and a suspected traitor to others, she’s determined to bring down the Shadow Fold and save Ravka from ruin. But General Kirigan has returned to finish what he started. Backed by a terrifying new army of seemingly indestructible shadow monsters and fearsome new Grisha recruits, Kirigan is more dangerous than ever. To stand a fighting chance against him, Alina and Mal rally their own powerful new allies and begin a continent-spanning journey to find two mythical creatures that will amplify her powers. Back in Ketterdam, the Crows must forge new alliances as they contend with old rivals and even older grudges that threaten not only their place in the Barrel, but their very lives. When a chance at a deadly heist comes their way, the Crows will once again find themselves on a collision course with the legendary Sun Summoner. Based on Leigh Bardugo’s worldwide bestselling Grishaverse novels, ‘SHADOW AND BONE’ returns for a second season of new friendships, new romance, bigger battles, epic adventures — and a shocking family secret that could shatter everything.”
A collection of new stills have snuck their way out of the Fold as well.

Shadow and Bone stars Ben Barnes, Jessie Mei Li, Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter, Kit Young, Amita Suman, Danielle Galligan, Calahan Skogman, and Daisy Head.
Series newcomers this season include Patrick Gibson as Nikolai Lantsov, Lewis Tan as Tolya Yul-Bataar, Anna Leong Brophy as Tamar Kir-Bataar, and Jack Wolfe as Wylan Hendriks.
Don’t miss the eight-episode second season of Shadow and Bone when it premieres exclusively on Netflix on March 16, and stay tuned for our continued coverage on the series!
