Tom Cruise Takes to the Sky To Thank Fans for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Success

Top Gun: Maverick is the #1 film of 2022. Starting on December 22, it will be available to stream on Paramount+ in the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Latin America. It will be available to stream in South Korea and France in 2023.

The film continues the story of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) after more than 30 years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators. Now, he’s a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him.

He trains a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission and meets Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend, Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, call sign “Goose.” Facing the past and future, Maverick has to confront his deepest fears for a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who are chosen to partake.

To thank audiences for the monumental success of the film, Cruise recorded a personal message for fans from mid-air after jumping from a helicopter while filming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. The greeting from Cruise premiered during a commercial break for the national broadcast of the NFL Cincinnati Bengals vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers game on CBS.

Top Gun: Maverick was produced by Paramount Pictures, Skydance, and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. The film stars Cruise, Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Charles Parnell, Bashir Salahuddin, Monica Barbaro, Jay Ellis, Danny Ramirez, Greg Tarzan Davis, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer.
