Disney+ has found its casting choice for its live-action Ezra Bridger in the upcoming Ahsoka series, which entered production in May of this year.
Ezra Bridger made his debut in the 2014 animated series Star Wars Rebels, where he was voiced by actor Taylor Gray. Fans of the franchise watched as Ezra grew from a force-sensitive orphan into a rebel who trained in the ways of the Jedi.
Esfandi joins Rosario Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Ivanna Sakhno, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Ray Stevenson in the cast. Hayden Christensen will also reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker for the series after making a triumphant return in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Esfandi can be seen as Robert Rodriguez in the 2019 horror film Red 11, as well as a small role in 2021’s King Richard. He is also part of the cast of the upcoming LGBTQ+ military drama The Inspection, which debuted at the Toronto Film Festival this week.
Ahsoka Tano was first introduced in 2008 in the animated series The Clone Wars. The Togruta Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker fought alongside the Jedi in the legendary Clone Wars. After falsely being accused of crimes, Tano eventually left the Jedi Order, in turn saving her from the Great Jedi Purge as a result of Order 66.
Ahsoka, played by Dawson, made her live-action debut in season 2 of The Mandalorian along, with a second appearance in The Book of Boba Fett alongside Luke Skywalker as he builds his Jedi Temple on Yavin 4.
The series is written and produced by Dave Filoni alongside Jon Favreau. Ahsoka does not currently have a release date, but with the Star Wars D23 Expo panel on the horizon this weekend, stay tuned with Nerds & Beyond for potential updates.
