Netflix Sets ‘The Pale Blue Eye’ Release Date

Scott Cooper’s forthcoming film The Pale Blue Eye officially has a release date! Netflix announced the film will release in select theaters on December 23 and on Netflix on January 6. Christian Bale and Harry Melling lead the cast. They’re joined by Gillian Anderson, Lucy Boynton, Timothy Spall, Robert Duvall, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Toby Jones.

The Pale Blue Eye is based on Louis Bayard’s novel of the same name. Set in the 1830s, it focuses on a series of murders that occur at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point. Bale plays the detective assigned to the case. He’s paired with a young cadet (Melling), who later becomes known as Edgar Allan Poe.

Other cast includes Harry Lawtey, Simon McBurney, Hadley Robinson, Gideon Glick, Fred Hechinger, Matt Helm, Steven Maier, Charlie Tahan, Joey Brooks, and Brennan Cook. Cooper writes and directs. He produces alongside Bale, and Cross Creek Pictures’ John Lesher and Tyler Thompson. Dylan Weathered and Tracey Landon executive produce.
