Greg Sestero Is Bringing ‘The Room’ to FAN EXPO Boston
Get ready for football and tuxedo season as FAN EXPO Boston has announced that Greg Sestero of The Room fame will kick-off the convention’s after-hours festivities! For one night only on Friday, August 12, Sestero will host a screening of The Room at 9 p.m. He will also do a Q&A, meet-and-greet, and take selfies. If you’re unfamiliar with this cult classic, The Room focuses on Johnny (Tommy Wiseau), a man with some kind of job who’s looking forward to marrying his future wife, Lisa (Juliette Danielle). Unfortunately for blissfully unaware Johnny, Lisa is having an affair with Johnny’s best friend Mark (Sestero). Everything sort of goes downhill from there.
During its initial release in 2003, The Room was not at all well-received. In the years since, it has been lauded (yes, lauded) as the worst movie ever made. The movie has become a staple for late-night screenings with its own set of rituals. And speaking as someone who has willingly attended a screening for The Room, I genuinely recommend going to one. (Don’t forget to bring an obscene amount of plastic spoons!)
FAN EXPO Boston takes place on August 12-14 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
