Focus Features has announced that Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse will lead Lisa Frankenstein! The film marks the directorial debut for Zelda Williams and is written by Oscar winner Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body). Lisa Frankenstein is a zombie rom-com sent in 1989 that follows a teenage girl (Newton) who accidentally reanimates a Victorian corpse (Sprouse) using the tanning bed in her garage. Williams confirmed the casting in a series of posts on Twitter while also promising that the “bonkers” project will pay homage to classic 80s films.

Newton is best known for her roles in Freaky, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, Blockers, and Supernatural. She will next be seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Sprouse is heading into his final season as Jughead Jones on Riverdale after seven seasons and leads the recently released Moonshot alongside Lana Condor. There is no release date set for Lisa Frankenstein, but stay tuned for more news as we get it!
