‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ Bumps Release Date Away From ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’

Warner Bros. Pictures has delayed the release date of their upcoming Shazam! sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods yet again. However, don’t despair. The date has only been bumped back by five days.

The film will now release on December 21, 2022 instead of December 16, ensuring that the DC superhero film doesn’t go directly against Disney’s Avatar sequel at the box office. While fans may still be disappointed about the delay, they can celebrate the fact that they’ll still be able to catch Shazam! Fury of the Gods this year.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods will feature the return of Asher Angel and Zachary Levi in their roles as Billy Batson/Shazam, as well as the return of many of the other members of the first film’s main cast. Plus, Oscar winner Helen Mirren and Kill Bill actress Lucy Liu will be joining the cast as the film’s villains, while West Side Story star Rachel Zegler will also appear in a yet-to-be-announced role.

Promising all the action and humor fans loved from the first film, the sequel will follow the whole Shazam family as they tackle issues within the family while also facing a new powerful set of villains — the daughters of the Greek god Atlas.
