‘Cruel Summer’: Lexi Underwood Cast In Season 2

Following the recent news that the second season of Freeform’s hit Cruel Summer will follow a completely different storyline with a brand new cast, the series has landed a new star after a recast.

Little Fires Everywhere‘s Lexi Underwood will replace Eloise Payet in the role of Isabella, per The Hollywood Reporter. The reasoning is unknown but it reportedly came after last week’s table read to redevelop and recast the role. According to the character description, Isabella is the “daughter of foreign diplomats, who is spending a year as an exchange student with the Landry family. She quickly shakes up life in this small town, but her charm can’t hide the truth about her past or the real reason she came to live with the Landrys forever.”

The official synopsis for the second season of Cruel Summer reads:

“Set in an idyllic waterfront town in the Pacific Northwest, the second chapter follows the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship. Approaching the story from three different timelines surrounding Y2K, the season twists and turns as it tracks the early friendship between Megan, Isabella, and Megan’s best friend Luke, the love triangle that blossomed, and the mystery that would impact all of their lives going forward.”

The premiere date for season 2 of Cruel Summer is unknown, but be sure to check back here for all the latest updates!
