‘Oppenheimer’: Olivia Thirlby Joins Massive Cast for Upcoming Christopher Nolan Film

Olivia Thirlby is the newest of dozens of actors to have joined the cast list for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, per Deadline.

Thirlby joins the massive cast led by Cillian Murphy, which also includes Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Gary Oldman, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Dylan Arnold, David Krumholtz, Alden Ehrenreich, Olli Haaskivi, Michael Angarano, Guy Burnet, Danny Deferrari, Matthias Schweighöfer, Harrison Gilbertson, Emma Dumont, Devon Bostick, Jason Clarke, James D’Arcy, David Dastmalchian, Dane DeHaan, Trond Fausa, Christopher Denham, and Josh Zuckerman.

In addition to directing from his own screenplay, Nolan will also produce alongside Emma Thomas and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven. The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin. 

Oppenheimer is a World War II-era biopic that follows J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who ran the Manhattan Project which led to the invention of the atomic bomb. The film is currently set to release July 21, 2023, roughly two weeks before the anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima.
