Paramount+ has announced that Zoe Saldaña (Star Trek, Guardians of the Galaxy) is set to star in a new drama series, Lioness. She is also set to executive produce the series alongside Taylor Sheridan and Nicole Kidman, with Kidman’s production company Blossom Films.
Saldaña will play Joe, a station chief of the CIA’s Lioness program. Her job is to train female undercover operatives to infiltrate and assassinate terrorist organizations. The series is based on the real-life CIA program of the same name.
Lioness will be produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios and will be led by Tom Brady (NOS4A2) as executive producer and showrunner. Production will begin in June 2022.
Tom Brady said about the project: “I am a huge fan of Taylor Sheridan’s work and am honored to help him tell his next amazing story with Lioness. Taylor has created an epic, gripping, global spy thriller centered on a group of complex, strong women, and I can’t imagine anyone better to help bring these characters to life than fellow executive producers Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldaña.”
