New Teaser Art for ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Revealed

Feast your eyes, fellow Trekkies: some gorgeous teaser art has dropped for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

The upcoming series is based on the years Captain Christopher Pike was at the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise. Strange New Worlds will feature many of our favorite characters from season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery: Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One, and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock. The new show will follow Captain Pike, Science Officer Spock, and Number One in the years before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.

Information about the new show is starting to trickle in, but we’ve only had one proper look at the cast so far ahead of the series’ May premiere. The first teaser this week featured most of the anticipated ensemble. The short clip — presumably from the first episode of the series — focused on Cadet Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), giving viewers a little more insight into her interesting, and previously mostly overlooked, backstory.

The series premiere of Strange New Worlds was written by Akiva Goldsman. The story is by Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet. Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers serve as co-showrunners, with Goldsman directing the premiere episode. Goldsman, Kurtzman, and Lumet are executive producers in addition to Alonso Myers, Heather Kadin, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, and Aaron Baiers.

Strange New Worlds is produced by CBS Studios, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment, and will stream exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S., Latin America, and Australia. The series will air on Bell Media’s CTV Sci-Fi Channel and stream on Crave in Canada with additional international availability to be announced at a later date. The series is distributed by ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premieres Thursday, May 5, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. Following the premiere, new episodes will drop weekly on Thursdays.
