With just days to go until the premiere of West Side Story, its leading lady Rachel Zegler has just won a major award for her performance. The National Board of Review has named Zegler Best Actress for her role as Maria in the classic musical. This is Zegler’s first film role after beating out thousands of actresses in an open casting call.

Zegler will next be seen in Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Snow White. West Side Story opens in theaters nationwide on December 10, with exclusive IMAX fan screenings on December 6.
