The day has finally come, Rick Riordan fans! The highly anticipated new book from Riordan, Daughter of the Deep, hits shelves today, almost three weeks later than originally anticipated. It’s no secret that some industries are seeing supply chain issues, so we’re especially excited to see Daughter of the Deep make its way into the homes and hearts of readers.

Daughter of the Deep takes place outside Riordan’s Percy Jackson Universe and follows freshman Ana Dakkar who attends Harding-Pencroft Academy, a five-year high school. HP prides itself in graduating the very best marine scientists, naval warriors, navigators, and underwater explorers. Following in her parents footsteps as she attends the specialized school for all things aquatic, Ana’s parents tragically died while on a scientific expedition two years ago. Now, it’s just Ana and her older brother, Dev, who also attends HP.

Ana’s freshman year culminates with a weekend trial at sea for her and the entire class. The details are kept under wraps so nerves run high as the class sets off together, but their worries are short lived when a tragedy strikes the HP campus while they are on the bus headed to the ship for their trials. The tragedy they witness forever alters their lives as long held secrets are slowly revealed. The lone professor on the trip informs Ana that HP and their rival school, Land Institute, have been locked in a cold war for 150 years. It’s now a full blown war and the freshman class are in more danger than ever. Facing a deadly enemy, Ana will make amazing friends and discoveries about her heritage as she puts her leadership skills to the test for the first time.

Daughter of the Deep is the perfect combination of fast-paced action, witty writing, and incredible world building that no reader will want to miss. You can find our full spoiler-free review here. Be sure to pick up your copy of the Daughter at the Deep at a local bookstore near you today!
