Idris Elba Joins ‘Sonic 2’ as Knuckles

A new player has joined the game! Idris Elba has joined the cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as everyone’s favorite echidna Knuckles.

He joins James Marsden and Jim Carrey for the sequel to one of the biggest movies in 2020. Other cast members in the movie are Ben Schwartz, Tika Sumpter, and Natasha Rothwell. Another new face in the franchise is Shemar Moore, whose character has not been revealed yet.

Elba was recently seen in the 2021 movie The Suicide Squad. He will also be returning to his role as DCI John Luther in a feature film based off his hit BBC show Luther.

Joining Sonic and Knuckles on their new adventure is the sly fox Tails. The trio are the stars of the hit video game series that the movies are based on, Sonic the Hedgehog. The beloved franchise recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.

Production on the film finished in May 2021 and will hit theatres on April 8, 2022.
