Black Panther‘s Winston Duke is headed to Gotham City.
Duke will voice Bruce Wayne, Batman himself, in an upcoming Spotify podcast, Batman Unburied, from The Dark Knight screenwriter David S. Goyer. Also joining the cast is Jason Isaacs as Wayne’s trusty butler, Alfred. No other cast details have been announced yet.
The logline for the podcast reads:
“When audiences meet Bruce Wayne he is a forensic pathologist, working in the bowels of Gotham Hospital and tasked with examining the victims of The Harvester, a gruesome serial killer preying on Gotham’s citizens. Not only will the superhero be forced to face his own mental demons, but he will also have to overcome them in order to save the citizens of Gotham as his alter-ego Batman.”
The release date has not been set, but the psychological thriller will be told over one season. The episodic release schedule is also still unknown. Batman Unburied will dive into the mind of Bruce Wayne and also feature some of Batman’s classic foes.
Bruce Wayne is the first DC character to join the podcasting world after a deal was struck between Spotify and Warner Bros. Other characters expected to make podcast debuts in the future include Wonder Woman, Lois Lane, Catwoman, Riddler, and Batgirl.
Winston Duke will reprise his role as M’Baku in the upcoming Black Panther sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. You can also see him in the supernatural drama Nine Days releasing on August 6. Jason Isaacs is best known for his role in the Harry Potter franchise as the villainous Lucius Malfoy. He’s also lent his voice to another famed DC character. Isaacs voiced Lex Luthor in the 2015 animated series Justice League: Gods and Monsters.
