Celebrate 80 Years of Wonder Woman This October With New Comics!

Wonder Woman is a superhero who stands for the best qualities there is: truth, justice, and equality. This year celebrates 80 years since she was conceptualized. In honor of that major feat, DC Comics is releasing a number of new and existing titles all throughout October! Some were previously announced, but now we have a time frame to expect them. Check out all the Wonder Woman 80 fun below.

Wonderful Women of the World
DC Comics

Releasing September 28, the adult anthology features stories from 23 women around the globe that honor all that Wonder Woman embodies. From science, sports, activism, diplomacy, and more, they strive as pioneers in their field. The likes of Beyonce, Serena Williams, Greta Thunberg, Malala Yousafzai, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and more will appear throughout.

Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary 100 Page Super Spectacular
DC Comics

On sale October 5, it’s just like the name states, it’s a 100-page super spectacular! New stories that capture Wonder Woman’s timeless messages features work from knockout acclaimed writers and artists. The issue will showcase Diana’s past, present, and future. Variant covers will be available including the Golden, Silver, Bronze, and Modern Ages.

Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons

A new series finally launching October 19, it includes a team-up from Kelly Sue DeConnick (Aquaman) and Phil Jimenez (Wonder Woman By Phil Jimenez Omnibus). Subsequent issues will release in the spring and fall of 2022.

“Millennia ago, Queen Hera and the goddesses of the Olympian pantheon grew greatly dissatisfied with their male counterparts… and far from their sight, they put a plan into action. A new society was born, one never before seen on Earth, capable of wondrous and terrible things, but their existence could not stay secret for long. When a despairing woman named Hippolyta crossed the Amazons’ path, a series of events was set in motion that would lead to an outright war in heaven—and the creation of the Earth’s greatest guardian!”

Nubia and the Amazons

Nubia is finally getting her time to shine in a series! The new mini-series from DC Comics will follow Nubia’s ongoing adventures. Written by Vita Ayala and Stephanie Williams, it showcases art from Alitha Martinez (Future State). Nubia and the Amazons launches October 5.

“After the thrilling events of Infinite Frontier, Nubia becomes queen of Themyscira, but the new title also brings challenges. With the unexpected arrival of new Amazons, our hero is forced to reckon with her past and forge a new path forward for her sisters. Little does she know, a great evil grows beneath the island and it’s up to this former guardian of Doom’s Doorway to unite her tribe before paradise is lost forever!”

Wonder Woman: 80 Years of the Amazon Warrior
DC Comics

Arriving as a 400-page special edition, Wonder Woman: 80 Years of the Amazon Warrior follows her in her fight for justice.

Spanning over eight decades from her first appearance in All Star Comics #8 to now, It includes new essays and interviews about the legacy of Wonder Woman. Expect to see Gal Gadot, Lynda Carter, Patty Jenkins, and Trina Robbins as well as never-before-collected stories. Wonder Woman: 80 Years of the Amazon Warrior arrives September 14.

Wonder Woman: Adventures of Young Diana Special

Jordie Bellaire and Paulina Ganucheau are teaming up for a new set of stories that follows the Amazon before she became a household name. Wonder Woman: Adventures of Young Diana Special releases October 12.

“The young princess of Themyscira struggled to find her place on an island deemed paradise by many, but which is, to her, a prison. Trapped in her role as a royal and shielded from the harsh realities of Man’s World, Diana yearned for adventure, or at least a purpose. When ancient texts portraying her home’s history go missing, she gets both. How far will our hero go to find the texts and the truths they’re hiding?”

Wonder Woman #1

There are a number of free additions to the lineup as well! Releasing October 19, this kicks off a new story from Greg Rucka and Liam Sharp “The Lies.” Travel down a rabbit hole of Wonder Woman’s dark secrets and past unravel to find out why the Lasso of Truth has stopped working.

Wonder Woman: Tempest Tossed
DC Comics

Another free special edition releasing October 19 is Wonder Woman: Tempest Tossed. It reimagines Diana’s origin story as it relates to the refugee experience, teenage activism, and finding the love and strength to create change. It also includes an extended sample from the full-length graphic novel.

Diana: Princess of the Amazons
DC Comics

Finally, Diana: Princess of the Amazons is a perfect story for the Wonder Girls (and a reminder for all the Wonder Women) that it’s okay to make mistakes to learn the hard way, this is what shapes us into heroes. Diana: Princess of the Amazons is the final free edition that will release on October 19.

“Eleven-year-old Diana is the only child on the island of Themyscira. Wanting someone her own age to talk to, she takes matters into her own hands and creates a playmate out of clay. But things quickly get out of control and Diana must decide whether she’s made a new friend…or a monster!”
