Sony and Marvel’s Kraven the Hunter has found its Kraven for the upcoming solo movie, Aaron Taylor-Johnson!

The film is based on a screenplay written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk. J.C. Chandor will direct. On top of that, Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are attached to produce.

Kraven (Sergei Kravinoff) is a popular Spider-Man villain that goes far back in the Marvel Universe. He was born into Russian aristocracy and later became one of the greatest hunters in the world that prefers larger animals that he can take on with his bare hands. He obtains a potion, which he drinks, and gains superhuman abilities. After this he shifts his attention to catching Spider-Man.

With this announcement, it further solidifies Marvel’s efforts to expand Sony’s Marvel slate. With the Venom sequel on its way and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man saga, it’s clear they’re going big.

Kraven the Hunter is set for release on January 13, 2023.
