Gillian Anderson to Guest Star in Season 2 of ‘The Great’
Hulu has revealed that Gillian Anderson, who most recently starred in season 4 of The Crown, will appear in the second season of the streamer’s original series The Great. Anderson is set to guest star in two episodes of the upcoming season as Catherine’s mother, Joanna.
Joanna is described as a “glamorous socialite from Germany, sometimes also known as the ‘maestro of marriage.'” She has a penchant for landing her daughters high-profile partnerships. After hearing rumors of Catherine’s coup, Joanna heads to Russia to see it for herself, however, Joanna’s intentions to save her family are more sinister than meets the eye.
Anderson joins stars Elle Fanning (Catherine), Nicholas Hoult (Peter), Phoebe Fox (Marial), Adam Godley (Archbishop), Gwilym Lee (Grigor), Sacha Dhawan (Orlo), Charity Wakefield (Georgina), and more.
