Jurnee Smollett Boards Netflix’s ‘Lou’

Jurnee Smollett, whose most recent credit includes HBO’s original series Lovecraft Country, has landed her next project. Smollett will star in and executive produce the upcoming Netflix film Lou. She joins the previously announced Allison Janney. Deadline was first to report the news.

When a young girl is kidnapped, her mother, with the help of her mysterious neighbor, team up to find the girl. Their mission will bring the pair into the wilderness, where their limits will be tested and shocking secrets will be exposed.

Lou is written by Maggie Cohn and will be directed by Anna Foerster. Janney, Lindsey Weber, and Braden Aftergood will also serve as executive producers. J.J. Abrams, Jon Cohen, and Hannah Minghella will produce.
