The CW has released the official description for “The Celestial Visitor,” which will serve as the backdoor pilot for the potential Nancy Drew spin-off Tom Swift. The new character will be played by actor Tian Richards, and already Tom Swift seems poised to leave his mark on the Drewniverse.
TIAN RICHARDS (“BURDEN,” “DUMPLIN”) GUEST STARS AS TOM SWIFT – As things begin to go haywire at The Claw, a striking stranger appears looking for Nancy (Kennedy McMann), and announces himself as the billionaire Tom Swift (guest star Tian Richards). Meanwhile, Ace (Alex Saxon) has issues with the way Nancy insists on handling things with Celia (guest star Teryl Rothery). Tunji Kasim, Leah Lewis, Maddison Jaizani and Riley Smith also star. Ruben Garcia directed the episode written by Melinda Hsu Taylor, Cameron Johnson & Noga Landau (#215).
The CW has not officially picked up the series, but if it goes forward it will be produced by Nancy Drew executive producers Noga Landau and Melinda Hsu Taylor alongside Cameron Johnson of FOX’s Empire. Be sure to check out the episode when it premieres May 12 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
