The nominations for the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards are here! The awards ceremony recognizes some of the best films and television programs from the past year. This year’s ceremony will also be followed by the inaugural Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted geared towards reality TV.

Among the film nominees is the late Chadwick Boseman, earning a nomination for his role as Levee in Netflix’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. He was nominated for Best Performance in a Movie.

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is set in 1927 Chicago, taking place during a recording session with “Mother of the Blues” Ma Rainey and her band. Throughout the session, Ma must contend with her ambitious horn player Levee and white management attempting to control her.

Though he’s no longer with us, Boseman continues to leave his mark with his final role as Levee. So far this awards season, Boseman has received posthumous wins for the Golden Globes, Critics Choice, and SAG. Boseman, co-star Viola Davis, and the film also received five total nominations for the Academy Awards.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards will take place on Sunday, May 16. Fan voting is open now through April 30. Find the full list of nominees here.
