It was a sad, sad day for cast and fans alike when the world learned of former Glee star Naya Rivera’s tragic passing. The cast of the musical show will be reuniting at the 2021 GLAAD Media Awards along with Demi Lovato, who briefly played Naya’s character Santana Lopez’s girlfriend, to perform a special tribute honoring both Naya and her character.
The GLAAD Media Awards “recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community and the issues that affect their lives.”
The tribute will not only focus on Rivera, but the ten-year anniversary of Santana’s coming out story, something that was an important step for LGBTQ+ and Latinx representation in television. Demi Lovato will be introducing the tribute. Cast members set to appear include Amber Riley, Darren Criss, Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Heather Morris, Jenna Ushkowitz, Matthew Morrison, Alex Newell, Harry Shum Jr., Jacob Artist, Vanessa Lengies, and Becca Tobin.
