After previously announcing a new series based on National Treasure was in the works, Deadline has revealed that Disney+ has officially ordered 10 episodes for the new series!

The project will reimagine the franchise, featuring a younger cast. It will focus on 20-year-old Jess Morales, a DREAMer who sets out with her friends to uncover her mysterious family history and recover lost treasure. It will focus on issues of “identity, community, historical authorship and patriotism.”

The series will see Jerry Bruckheimer return to produce, with original writers Cormac and Marianne Wibberley set to pen the series and executive produce. Mira Nair will direct.

There is currently no word on casting or a projected release date. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
