‘Sound of Metal’ Nominated for Six Oscars Including Best Picture

Darius Marder’s film Sound of Metal has been nominated for six Academy Awards! The film follows Riz Ahmed as a drummer in a metal band who loses his hearing and must learn to relate to the world in a new way (you can find our review here). Ahmed was nominated for Best Actor, making him the first Muslim man to be nominated in the category.

The film was nominated in the following categories: Best Picture, Best Actor (Riz Ahmed), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Paul Raci), Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing, and Best Sound.
