Another hero is getting ready to make her way to the small screen! The CW has officially ordered a pilot for Ava DuVernay’s superhero series Naomi, based on DC’s limited comic book series by Brian Michael Bendis, David F. Walker, and Jamal Campbell.

Naomi will follow its title character Naomi McDuffie, a teenager who journeys from the small world of her town to the vast expanse of the multiverse. When a supernatural event rocks her hometown, Naomi sets out to discover the origins of the event, uncovering information that will challenge beliefs about superheroes as we know them.

The series is currently in development with DuVernay and Arrow‘s Jill Blankenship. The two will write and executive produce, and Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes are set to executive produce. DuVernay’s Array Filmworks will produce in association with Warner Bros. Television

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
