‘The Umbrella Academy’ Nominated for GLAAD Award!
Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy has been nominated for GLAAD’s Outstanding Drama Series Award!
Earlier today, GLAAD announced the nominees for the GLAAD Media Awards 2021, which celebrate “fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and issues” in today’s media. Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy was recognized as one of those representations.
The Umbrella Academy has been a titan of diversity in their series, taking a comic book gang of adopted siblings and bringing faces to these characters that represent the world around us. In season 1 we were introduced to Klaus (Robert Sheehan), the free spirit pansexual whose life changes when he finds his soulmate, Dave (Cody Ray Thompson), in the trenches of the Vietnam War. Then, in season 2, we saw Vanya (Elliot Page) fall in love with Sissy Cooper (Marin Ireland) back in the 60s.
Also nominated for Outstanding Drama:
9-1-1: Lone Star (FOX)
Killing Eve (BBC America)
P-Valley (Starz)
Ratched (Netflix)
Star Trek: Discovery (CBS All Access)
Supergirl (The CW)
Vida (Starz)
The Wilds (Amazon)
Wynonna Earp (Syfy)

Currently, the GLAAD Media Awards 2021 is scheduled for a virtual ceremony in April 2021.
