The streaming service Netflix seems to be on a roll lately. It has announced another cancelation. The sci-fi drama Away was canceled six weeks after its release, after airing for one season. The first season was released on September 4 and consisted of 10 episodes. Because the series had high ratings, the cancelation comes as a shock. Addressing the cancelation on her Instagram, Hilary Swank posted the following:
The series stars Hilary Swank (Trust) as Emma Green, an American astronaut leading a team on Mars’ first mission. Personal issues plague the crew, including Emma Green. She is dealing with leaving a teenage daughter Alexis Logan (Talitha Eliana Bateman), and her husband, Matt Logan (Josh Charles), behind when they need her the most.
Away was created by Andrew Hinderaker (Penny Dreadful), who was one of the executive producers and writers. The cast also includes Vivian Wu, Mark Ivanir, Ray Panthaki, Ato Essandoh, Monique Gabriela Curnen, Adam Irigoyen, Fiona Fu, Felicia Patti, Gabrielle Rose, and more.
