Fans of Karate Kid rejoice! The season three of the television series Cobra Kai will premiere on Netflix on January 8, 2021.
The two first seasons of the show were broadcast on YouTube before being acquired in June 2020 by Netflix. The show is set thirty-four years after the film series and follows Johnny Lawrence, who reopens the Cobra Kai dojo, and his old rivalry with Daniel LaRusso.
The series is centered on Johnny Lawrence, now in his fifties, having lost his former wealthy lifestyle and is currently working as a handy-man. Lawrence reopens the Cobra Kai dojo and takes under his wing social outcasts, including his neighbor Miguel Diaz. The reopening rekindles his rivalry with Mr. Miyagi’s student Daniel LaRusso, now a rich car dealership’s owner, but struggling with his personal life. Johnny’s son Robby, abandoned by his father, seeks revenge by working for Daniel at the dealership and learning karate with Daniel.
William Zabka and Ralph Macchio reprise their roles as Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso. They are joined by Courtney Henggeler (Amanda LaRusso), Xolo Maridueña (Miguel Diaz), Tanner Buchanan (Robby Keene), and Mary Mouser (Samantha LaRusso).
Netflix also announced that the show was renewed for a fourth season. A new teaser trailer for the upcoming season was also released. You can watch it here.
